If you read to the end, I'll reveal three (3) secrets on how to reduce stress in your life and begin to live healthier and
happier without spending any money!
I'm Guro Valencia Robinson, and I've been in the martial arts for over 20 years. I'm certified in several areas within the
martial arts, but one of my significant certifications is outside of the martial arts as a Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner -
I teach people how to strive for excellence.
I've been working with people of all backgrounds for many years, but it wasn't until I committed to my martial art training
that I began to see the pain in so many folks - teens, adults, seniors - and pain in me! Everyone has their own personal
challenges, yet a lot of my students were walking around with a similar challenge and didn't know how to break the cycle.
I know that my gift - my voice - is in inspiring others to their greatness, so I'm grateful for my role as an instructor.
So, if these three (3) "secrets" could help you wake-up with grateful anticipation for each day, energize you so that you
would welcome more opportunities to play with the kids, spend time with your mate, enjoy new hobbies, travel more, etc., wouldn't
it be worth learning about them?
When I finally decided to write Relevant after the urging from a good friend and an early morning Inspiration
(before 5:00 a.m.!), I knew it was just time to do it - so I wrote at least a glimpse of my life.
Initially, I saw my story as no big deal until I began to get feedback from women and men that read it - wow! Growing up,
I lived a sheltered childhood in which my parents - especially my Mom - kept a close eye on her kids. No abuse, no neglect,
and not perfect, but a house of love with its own unique challenges.
Yet, protected from the trauma that so many kids endured (and still endure), I still created "stories" in my head that I carried
into adulthood that hindered me in some fashion. Common stories that many carry today, but will never admit publicly (though,
admittance is not necessary because you can see it in their actions). My point is this: the true revealed reason for the
beckoning of me to write a glimpse about my life had more to do with my awareness and acceptance of my emotional states.
The often false stories that I told myself kept me in anger, frustration, and other fear-related states for years - unbeknownst
to me!
These fear-based emotional states kept me in-and-out of the success models I was seeking: success in my relationships, entrepreneur
endeavors, my marriage, etc. Yet, when I wrote Relevant it was for ME TO SEE where I had been for far too long.
Sharing a glimpse of my life was my WAKE-UP call to get back to living life like I had enjoyed in my 20's and early 30's.
So, Relevant is honestly about learning to control your emotional states by first becoming AWARE of them!
As a martial artist, AWARENESS is crucial to my training, studying, and teaching! If you seek to discover what hinders your
steps, look within ... In reflection, my life has been interesting, fun, challenging, and full of loving family and friends.
Yet, my biggest challenges were financial and intimate relationships in which a lot of my ideas about both were imitated
behaviors that I learned (and accepted) as a kid.
What Relevant shares with the reader is a glimpse into my life (and three other martial art women) to show you
how we have benefited from our training. Yet, my personal story really invites you to become AWARE of your emotional states
and how to become the master of them. True happiness comes from within, so the best way to maintain happiness, keep stress
low, learn to forgive self and others, and accept others for whom they are at any given moment is to learn how to control
those feelings we call emotions. I was the reigning Champion of Pity Parties for years - the sole member and fan of my own
party - and didn't realize how long I had attended this lonely one-member party until years later!
How are you maintaining your emotional states?
Secret #1: How other people feel toward you is NOT about you! Others may blame you for a situation or dislike you
for no apparent reason, BUT how they feel about a situation is their emotional interpretation - so stay out of it! If you
did something to cause them pain, genuinely apologize for it and do what you can to make it right - when possible - then leave
the emotions in that situation - it's over! Let it go!
Secret #2: No one can make you feel a certain way - YOU CHOOSE HOW YOU FEEL in every situation - it's your choice!
Regardless of the severity of a situation, you get to choose how you will feel. Stop blaming others for how YOU FEEL!
Secret #3: Breathe! Deep breathing helps to relax the mind and body and bring clarity of thoughts. There are certain
breathing techniques used to focus on certain results - like breathing to reduce anxiety - but deep breathing DAILY helps
to reduce stress and improve your overall health, believe it!
Of course there are more "secrets," but what I've shared above is enough for you to make a significant change in your mental
and emotional well-being which will greatly help to reduce stress in your life - guaranteed! If you'd like to do one-on-one
"Perspective Coaching Sessions" with me, e-mail me at gurovee@gmail.com. I call it "Perspective Coaching" because how we
see and live life is based on our personal perspective. If you find that you're constantly colliding with others' perspectives,
perhaps it's time for a change in your perspective or time to find a new crowd! To find real happiness, you have to find
your authentic self and live from that perspective.
Unfortunately, I turn down many requests because, after the interview, what most folks are looking for is a miracle and I'm
not that being. I need you committed to YOU and receptive and ready to make lasting changes in your life where necessary.
You have to become the miracle that you are seeking by being willing to do the work! My sole role is to inspire and guide
you along your chosen way - YOU CHOOSE your perspective. :)
Get a copy of Relevant to be inspired, and use the suggested tips and strategies for finding your voice - your
gift - that others need to experience. More importantly, use it to become more AWARE of your emotional states and where they
have taken you and will take you when you learn to master your emotions. (FYI: mastering and MASKING emotions are not the
same.)
Read it, and let me know your thoughts. You're Relevant - you do matter!

About the Author
Dear Reader

Read what others have to say about Relevant:
Thank you for having the courage to be so incredibly transparent, honest and introspective in your disclosures through
your on-going life journey and Martial Arts contributions that truly "ignited, empowered and inflamed" self-discovery, self-acceptance,
and self-awareness as revealed in your recent publication "Relevant". Stories also shared by contributors Ameenah Hyman,
Guro Lakeia Davis and Guro Johanna Williams help to illustrate personal strategies utilized to manage life's complexities
and the peace acquired through Martial Arts mental, physical and spiritual harmony only further highlighted the emboldened
innate spirit that we women possess when we allow ourselves to relax in the flow as we grow. Your easy writing style, suggested
reads, sidebars and poignant action step suggestions served as clear road maps to help the reader unleash fears, negative
thoughts, and inhibitions toward greater acknowledgement of their/our personal relevance. With deep respect, I salute you.

Thank you so much! Your book was so inspiring!! Words cannot express how your book gave me motivation and some peace about
some things about myself I have been battling with! I had started reading it when I first got it...life happened...I got
busy and put it down. When I picked it back up, I started reading it all over again to make sure as I read, everything was
fresh in my mind. Every story was inspiring! I am such a work in progress and before I read your book, I had been so hard
on myself...not forgiving myself entirely for the poor choices I have made. It was so extremely helpful in helping me start
by forgiving myself and understanding that everyone makes mistakes and decisions that they are not happy with or regret; but,
it is important to forgive myself and keep moving and improving on the person I want to become.
Joining the Academy and meeting you and all the powerful women of Full Circle has been the most important and life-changing
decision I have made. I truly feel that although I still have lots of work on the making of a better me ahead, I have faith
that I will continually improve.
GOD is so good and I am so thankful that I have you all in my life!! Thank you again for the great read!!!
(Iva Benson, Community Service Leader
Serving Maryland and Washington, D.C.)
... I just finished reading your amazing book. I wanted to read it when the time was right. And I couldn't put it down.
I am very happy you stopped caring what others think and followed through with your ideas. You are more than what you say
about yourself and everyone else can kiss if they don't like it. I'm happy and proud to have you as my instructor, you motivate
me and me try harder and believe in myself. I didn't have the slightest idea that the degree of your struggles were high
and still here you were shining and teaching [] others how to do it too. I can't even explain what this book did for me.
Don't ever stop with your ideas! You are worth more than gold Goru[]! Thank you for sharing your world.
(Clyde Contreras, intermediate-level student of Combat Kuntao)
Powerful and Honest ... I feel the same way about the moving, the bad decisions, the losses ... I like you kept moving
well into adulthood. At the end of the day it is good ... Good job.

Tony Robbins, the leading expert in personal development, identifies 6 things you should do to learn to master your emotions
- here are 3 of them:
- Identify what you're feeling
- Acknowledge and appreciate your emotions
- Get curious about the message the emotion is offering
In my brief story, I stated how I had to first acknowledge my emotions, how they affected me and others, and the steps I took
to remove anything negative that was holding me back. Again, AWARENESS, is the first step toward lasting change, so PAY ATTENTION
to how you're feeling and what triggers those feelings.
